Dear friends of the seminary,

The recent ordinations to the priesthood and diaconate at Mater Dei Seminary were days of profound grace and lasting joy. The sacred ceremonies, carried out with reverence and precision, reflected the beauty and dignity of the Catholic priesthood and served as a powerful reminder that Our Lord continues to call laborers into His vineyard.

From the beginning of the ceremonies, the atmosphere was one of recollection and solemnity. Every detail of the liturgy was executed with care — the exact observance of the rubrics, the ordered ceremonial movements, and the reverent service of the ministers all contributing to a spirit that lifted the soul to God. The sacred chants and music, sung with clarity and devotion, added a richness and depth that expressed the sacred mysteries in a way beyond words.

In the days following the ordinations, the newly ordained priests offered their First Solemn High Masses. These first offerings of the Holy Sacrifice were deeply moving moments, marked by gratitude and devotion. For many of the faithful in attendance, they were among the most memorable and spiritually fruitful moments of the entire week.

The days were also filled with joyful receptions and gatherings, where clergy, seminarians, families, and visitors came together in a truly Catholic atmosphere. Many traveled great distances to be present, and their presence contributed to the spirit of unity, generosity, and faith that characterized the entire occasion. Much work behind the scenes ensured that everything was carried out with order, hospitality, and fitting dignity.

In every respect — from the beauty of the liturgy to the spirit of fellowship — these ordinations were a powerful testimony to the enduring strength and vitality of our Catholic Faith.

Looking Ahead: Clerical Tonsure — May 11

As these graces continue, we now look forward to the clerical tonsure on May 11, when Thomas Vigil, John Aguiar, Br. Simon Davis, CMRI, and Br. Anthony Kuck, CMRI will take an important step in their priestly formation.

The ceremony of tonsure marks a decisive moment in the life of a seminarian — a public consecration and a deeper dedication to the service of God and His Church. We ask your prayers for them, that they may respond generously and faithfully to God’s call.

We ask your continued prayers for those who have recently received Holy Orders, for those preparing to receive clerical tonsure, and for all the clergy and seminarians involved in these important and grace-filled days.
