Dear friends of the seminary,

With the Christmas season still fresh upon us, the seminary community has returned to its ordinary rhythm of daily life at the seminary. Following the Christmas recess, classes have resumed, and a new semester is now underway.

The opening days of the term were accompanied by the Church’s great feast of the Epiphany, celebrated at Mater Dei Seminary with a Solemn High Mass. In connection with the feast, the traditional blessing of gold, frankincense and myrrh, as well as Epiphany chalk, was also observed.

We also ask our friends and benefactors to remember in prayer the repose of the soul of the grandmother of one of our seminarians, Mr. Massimo Turri (Italy).

Priestly Ordinations — Invitation

An invitation to the upcoming priestly ordinations is available below. The priestly ordinations are scheduled for April 28th at Mary Immaculate Church in Omaha, Nebraska. We ask for your prayers for those approaching the sacred priesthood, and we welcome all who are able to attend the ordinations.

Solemn High Mass for the Feast of the Epiphany

The Feast of the Epiphany was celebrated at Mater Dei Seminary with a Solemn High Mass. As the Church commemorates the manifestation of Our Lord to the Gentiles, we are reminded that Christ has come as the Light of the world, drawing all nations to Himself.

In keeping with longstanding custom, the blessings associated with Epiphany were also observed: gold, frankincense and myrrh, and Epiphany chalk for the traditional home blessing.

The New Semester

With the beginning of the semester, the seminarians have returned to their studies and the regular schedule of prayer and community duties. We ask all our friends and benefactors to continue praying for the perseverance and fidelity of those in formation.

Be assured of our remembrance at the altar.
