Dear friends of the seminary,
As the end of the academic year draws near at Mater Dei Seminary, we joyfully prepare for the conferral of the clerical tonsure and minor orders upon several of our seminarians on May 13. This occasion marks an important milestone in their priestly formation, as they advance on the sacred journey toward the priesthood. Through these holy rites, they draw closer to the time when they will be made worthy one day to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and dispense the sacred sacraments to the faithful.
At present, our seminarians are in the customary three-day retreat in preparation for ordination. This time of prayer and reflection is essential as they take further steps toward the priesthood. In these days of quiet recollection, they will meditate deeply on the gravity of their vocation, renewing their resolve to serve Our Lord and His Church with all their heart, mind, and soul. It is through this retreat that they will receive the spiritual graces necessary to strengthen their commitment to the sacred duties they will one day undertake.
As the final weeks of classes come to a close, our seminarians will soon return home for the summer, to enjoy a well-deserved rest. Even during their time away from the seminary, they will continue their formation, assisting at various parishes and missions near their homes. Whether at rest or in service, it will be a time for them to put their studies into practice, aiding the clergy in the pastoral care of souls, and further preparing for the priestly mission to which they have been called.
We humbly ask the faithful to remember our seminarians in your prayers. We remain deeply grateful for the prayers and support of our benefactors, and we ask that you continue to keep our seminarians in your prayers. God bless you all!
